Reasons to upgrade to ROS 2

Robotnik reaffirms its commitment to ROS as the leading open-source robotics software. Open Robotics reports that ROS 1 Noetic will lose support in May 2025, ending updates and new features. Robotnik recommends migrating to ROS 2 and strives to make the process simple and efficient. To ensure safety and reliability, the company offers specialized migration services.

  • Sensor and component compatibility check: Some components have been discontinued by the manufacturer and/or are not available in ROS 2, either because their SDK is not compatible or because they reached the end of their lifecycle in previous ROS versions.
  • Control PC requirements: It is necessary to verify that the processor, RAM, and hard drive specifications are compatible with the new operating system version and ROS 2. If any incompatibilities are detected, upgrading these components may be considered.
